# How does HealthSmart help me teach tough issues?

## HealthSmart has detailed lesson plans and support materials for teachers.

If there is a difficult or controversial topic to teach, the Teacher's Guides include additional guidance for discussing and handling the topic in the classroom, including how to answer questions about sexuality and sexual health.

Professional development resources for Grades K–5 are available to purchasers of both the print and digital editions of the program on the *HealthSmart* website under **[Resources](https://www.etr.org/healthsmart/resources/)**. These free full-length books cover the important content areas of Nutrition & Physical Activity, Tobacco, Safety & Injury, and Sexuality and include guidance on answering difficult questions.
