How does HealthSmart support media literacy?

Media Literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media in a variety of forms.

The elementary grades include lessons that ask students to apply what they see on television and in other media to the content they are learning in the lesson and to analyze the influence of media in their lives. At the middle school and high school levels, HealthSmart provides opportunities for students to access, analyze and evaluate the influence of media (including websites, television, movies, music, and commercials) on a variety of health behaviors. Students also have opportunities to use a variety of media and technology to complete in-class and take-home assignments.
