HealthSmart is considered an evidence-informed program. It incorporates the key features research has identified in those programs that have been found to be effective in changing risk behaviors.
However, because there has not yet been a rigorous research study of this comprehensive K-12 health education program, ETR does not call the program evidence based.
More information on how HealthSmart meets all of the 15 characteristics of effective health education programs defined by the CDC can be found on the HealthSmart website.
